I am very proud of a song I wrote for the show "Lie to Me," which will be performed on the episode that airs tonight at 9 PM on Fox. The song, entitled "White Lie," appears about three quarters of the way through the episode.

Great little song, and Brendan Hines did a great job playing it, slight lyric changes notwithstanding. This is a great song for kids to hear and sing in the presence of adults. Are you a dad? 'Cause I hope you'll sing this to your kids!

I say I'm 10 when I'm 9 and half.
My Uncle Tells a joke and I try to laugh
In gym I fake a headache, but I want to quit
I say I love the sweater that my Grandma knit.
But that was...
Chorus 1:
A white lie
(Sing as echo in "Lie To Me" epsisode the children sing this part) White Lie
That's a white lie
(Sing as echo) white lie
That's the kind you want to tell
(Children sing too) A white lie
So your mom won't have to yell
A white lie
(sing echo) White Lie
Everybody does it cause it feels alright and it's more polite
But a lies still a lie, even when it's white
I pretend I'm asleep when my dad walk's in
I said I ate my chicken, but I just ate the skin
You speak and say your lie and when your mouth says not
Your pants are on fire, but their not too hot
When it's a...
Chorus 2
White Lie
(sing echo) White Lie
It's the kind you want to tell
A white lie
So your dad won't have to yell
A white lie
(sing echo) white lie
Everybody does it, cause it feels alright and it's more polite
but a lie's still a lie, even when it's white
While it might be hard, to say what's true,
would you want a white lie told to you?

You should, indeed, be quite proud of this song. I was charmed when I heard it on the show and am delighted that you have been so generous as to share both the MP3 and the sheet music. I've passed both on to the moms and dads of our 5 grandkids. That's a great song for Sunday school, Scouts, and just helping kids learn about honesty.
Thanks so much for writing it!

Thanks so much for sharing the MP3 and sheet music with us - 'cause ever since I heard it on the show, I couldn't get it out of my head and kept coming back to hear it again and again. Hi Zach,
I loved this song! It's a sweet tune with great lyrics. My son is autistic, and this will be a wonderful song to teach him as he grows up, since autistic kids really struggle with "white lies"... Thanks so much for the song, and making it available.
